2 scenarios where presented.

1.  Lady A's  future mother-in-law was quite a character,she was protective of her son which is normal but to an annoying degree, with some irrelevant remarks,borderline  insulting questions,attitudes,all that.

Lady A did not like it but she did not also bring it up as an issue,always dismissing it, meanwhile her  plan was to mellow down, marry him,then reciprocate her own attitude to her mother-in-law.(awon gang of "let me get my husband first and I will change it for you".) Yes she did get married to him,then the drama started.

2. Lady B's fiancee's  mother was totally against the wedding and marriage because of the very infamous "you are not from our place"or "we don't marry from so,so place" battle. This woman was outrightly insulting, condescending and hurtful.

In such situations what will you do ,how will you react?

Lady A did what any woman would have done,while B reacted as a woman who has Jesus in her.(watch it to know how).

Watching this movie honestly broke me,unconsciously we might have picked up an attitude of "no one should dare cross me or they will have me to answer to",or "I know my right" kind of thing ,because there are some very subtle issues that we feel it's our right to protest or show our red eye but in this matter of marriage the best way to handle issues is Love. 

1.Begin to see your mother-in-law as your mother and it will change the way you react to her and relate with her.

2.Stop sweeping important issues under the carpet during your courtship period,the dirts will spoil your carpet in marriage,Discuss them now,resolve them now.

3. We are the ones that make up culture tribe,people of a place, no tribe is completely good or totally bad,there is no good culture or bad culture we are the ones that make it that way.stop discriminating against tribe or labelling them bad,making an innocent person suffer the sins he did not commit.

In-lawship has always  been a very tricky subject to discuss ,especially in this climes ,but the troubles in it have trailed us for quite a while.

God desires that we change the narratives and make it a desirable relationship not the war or battle that  is known for.

And It all begins with you.

You can change the narrative.

I'll end with the words of Gloria bamiloye in a recent interview on mother-in-law ship. 

"If you know you are going to get married make up your mind now to love your in-laws .... even if your mother-in-law is a witch,when you walk in God's own way of love,she will bow,that is the power of love,because God himself is love,  so when he says love he means have more of me.However terrible your in-laws may be they will respect that God in you. Love your husband and love his family too."

Hi guys,welcome back to novels and movies Christian. It's always a pleasure to have you here.

In this book you will meet Quentin,Eden,Hannah,Calender and a host of others that will take you through life during American civil war 

; the battle between  the north (Yankees) and southern's that left the country in a state of chaos,devastation,fallen economy, and  the people angry,full of hate,bitter and in abject poverty mostly for soldiers families of whom their breadwinner has either been injured greatly in battle,missing or worse still dead.

 In the events of  everyone  trying to pull what's left of the devastation to forge ahead.

Here comes Quentin a Doctor.

Who served for a short time as an  army doctor during the war and  in a sequel of some unfortunate  happenings  mistakenly killed a man. Now get this ,he (Quentin ) is a man who has sworn to save lives, and here is he taking one ,you can imagine the toll it had on him, on his job and inadvertently on the family of the deceased who have lost their breadwinner.

Has your appetite been stirred enough?

Ok maybe  just a little more.

He travels across to the "enemy " land to confess and make restitution to the family of the deceased, try to  imagine how that plays out!

  Also included in this already tensed happenings is a mad man,a crippled, some handicaps(talk about an intresting  drama ).Makes you wonder how such people  will rebuild the ruins and make things right.

Just go and read and see something.

Points to note 

1. For whatever profession we've been called into,God's  purpose extends there too.There is work that he will have us do there .

2. Irrespective of our disabilities,physical and otherwise we all have a part in God's  great plan,we are all important to him.

3.war is bad,its horrible,devastating ,no one should have to experience that but hatred, bitterness in our souls is even worse,it can wreck more havoc than any war.

4. There is nothing,  absolutely nothing that God cannot make beautiful again,give him the broken pieces of your life and watch him make your life a wonder.

5. In any situation do  the honourable thing by God.

I do hope we read this novel,more than that I pray we open our hearts to the promptings of God as we read.
